Stop! just stop it with all the sad expressions, grumpy emojis, discouragement, and everything in between!
If someone is excited about something be excited for them and with them. I hate to break it to you, but even if you don't like it or aren't happy with the news GET OVER IT!! Share the joy with that person and leave yourself out of it.
Don't make something that isn't about you, about you!
If what they are doing isn't bringing harm, isn't something illegal or destructive then be happy for them! If you truly love that person and want to be an important part of their life and well being then SUPPORT them, encourage them, pray for them, and show them the love you would desire if the tables were turned.
Imagine how it would feel if the shoe was on the other foot, would you want to surround yourself with people that are bringing the situation down or someone who will lift you up and give the needed encouragement?
An unfortunate part of human nature is that sometimes we justify our happiness off of the opinions of others. Just think of the power you hold then, in the bible it says "the power of LIFE and DEATH are in your tongue". You can in everyway crush someone's dream just by the words you speak and the reaction you have!
Can I say it again.... don't make something that isn't about you, about you!
You will have your time, your opportunity so give others the love and support that you would desire to have during that moment.
We are in everyway designed to be in community, we are not meant to spend our lives alone. We need social interaction and we need to be so careful with the people that we surround ourselves with! Surround yourself with people who lift you up, cherish, you, love you and all the goodness in between. On the flip side you need to sew those same things into that relationship.
The people we have in our core group can make or break our spirits at times. One little discouragement when all we need is a moment of encouragement can make all the difference.
You lose absolutely nothing by lifting up others, if anything it strengthens you as well. Share in the victories of those around you, share in their joy, and love them thru all the moments of their life.
It can be as simple as do unto others as you would have them do unto you. What do you need from a relationship? What kind of encouragement do you need or what kind of encourager do you need to be?
