Here we are 8 months in and double our living space, note that's from our 300sqft tiny living quarters to a whopping 600sqft loft apartment so still nothing to extravagant.
Several months ago I wrote a post entitled " Tiny Living Was Fun But.." at that moment one of the things I was looking so forward to was SPACE and I know to most of you 600sqft is not space but for us it was a huge upgrade. Fast forward 8 months into a 24 month lease and I am so thankful that we only upgraded this much because I am craving that tiny homestead again. We have had several people ask what is next for our living situation and if we will move into a "real" house after this and settle down.
Those words "settle down" resonate with no part of me. Yes we are indeed looking towards our living future and why yes it does include space... in a way..
We have a plan, a desire and a calling to open up a retreat center, village, community and all the things that entails. That will require space but as for us we will keep our home tiny, Were looking into Yurts, Shipping containers, and even Schoolies. We want to build a community and a space for like minded souls to venture, a place to gather and enjoy fellowship in nature with other individuals.
Does that sound a little hippy-ish? Yea maybe but my goodness it sounds amazing to me. We want to host events and be able to create the atmosphere that we choose. We desire a safe place to bring your family, a place for believers to connect and be connected to nature. Will yoga be involved you ask? YES yoga will be the basis of this atmosphere and will be included in everything.
I have a pull to get back to nature, a desire to feel free and roam, to walk barefoot amongst the trees. So this is place I will create. A place of simplicity and intention where life can slow down. Tiny living in itself is simplicity and the desire to live in that way. A desire to live life in its most basic form surrounded by only the things and people that mean the most to you.
I have learned if you can't find what you desire then maybe God has chosen you to fulfill that creation. Earth To Us Retreat Center will one day be that completed vision.
So Tiny Living?... YES we will return back to that lifestyle but in a much different way. This time we will have more purpose and guidance. This time it will be to give God glory in the way that we live and give others the opportunity to try on a different lifestyle.
Tiny Living had struggles just like any other lifestyle and at times I was DONE! Often it takes stepping away from something to see what you truly loved about it. I am loving this season of life right now and feel that we are exactly where God has called us to be but I also see a future, a future that He has specifically designed for us.
I am called to that simplicity, that Tiny lifestyle and the freedom that it gives. Our dreams are great but when those dreams are formed from a vision from our creator they are that much sweeter.
I can't wait to see how our future unfolds and our dreams of a Tiny homestead are not only brought back to life for ourselves but a space for so many others to join in with this journey.
